    Shema Meditation

When we recite the Shema usually we face the east, toward Jerusalem and the direction of the rising Sun. To meditate on the Shema try the following procedure:

As you intone the Shema envision yourself in a body of radiance, or glory surrounded by an absolute void of nothing all around you.

When you intone "Shema Israel," envision Malchut at your base appearing as a swirling vortex of energy, when you intone "Adonai Eloheinu" envision Yesod as a swirling energy appearing in your navel, and when you intone "Adonai Echad" envision Tiferet as a swirling energy vortex in your chest.

Following this visualization and at the conclusion of the Shema envision that a ray of Light descends from above your head and pierces your crown and runs straight through your body, connecting the swirling vortexes of Tiferet, Yesod and Malchut in a straight linear line and then descends down through you and out of you to the depths of nothing below. Next imagine that your body of light dissolves and merges with the radiance of Ain - Nothing, like a rainbow dissolving into the sky; let all be offered up and reintegrated with the Light Continuum in this way.

Tip: First work with envisioning the corresponding Sefirot, and then add the visualization and dissolution once the inward visualization is established.
